Eugene Prevost founded Prevost-manufacturing Company in 1924. He was a cabinetmaker who specialized in making school furniture and church pews. In 1924, Prevost was requested to build a bus body for REO truck chassis. The body that he created was excellent and therefore, received many repeat orders. Between 1937 and 1939, the first Prevost bus manufacturing plant was built. Initially, the company constructed vehicles with wooden bodies, but in 1945, this changed, and the Prevost started producing their bodies with metals. Paul Normand acquired the company in 1957 and later in 1969; two American businesspersons formed a partnership with Paul Normand to become the Co-owners.
